Physician Assistants

Stuart Berryman received a bachelor’s degree in Bio-Chemistry from Eureka College in Eureka, IL. He then graduated from the physician assistant program at the University of Kentucky in 1989. Stuart has worked three years in internal medicine and eight years in family practice, pediatrics, geriatrics, orthopedics, dermatology and urgent care.

Since joining our practice in 2000, Stuart has also earned his masters in dermatology in physician assistant studies. Stuart sees patients in our Peoria and Peru offices. Stuart has four children and lives in Washington, IL.

John R. Soderstrom grew up in Morton, Illinois. John attended the University of Colorado where he received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology while volunteering at the student health center. He then worked as an emergency medical technician at a busy emergency department for three years while studying at the University of Colorado in Denver. John received his physician assistant degree at the Arizona School of Health Sciences where he completed training at Mayo Clinic and Mayo Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.  John is also a member of the Mayo School of Health Sciences Alumni Association at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.   

In September 2006, he began his practice as a Physician Assistant at Soderstrom Skin Institute. John lives in Morton with his wife and two sons.

Michelle Roth grew up in Neponset, IL and attended Neponset High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society and an Illinois State Scholar.

Michelle attended Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. where she was a member of the biology club. She graduated cum laude in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in biology / pre-med and a minor in psychology. She then attended OSF Saint Francis School of Clinical Laboratory Science, completing the program with a certification in clinical laboratory science, in the summer of 2003. She worked at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Laboratory in blood bank, hematology, and coagulation.

In summer 2005, Michelle began the physician assistant program at Des Moines University. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. She graduated in August 2007 with a master’s degree in physician assistant studies. She and her husband reside in Peoria, IL with their daughter.

Joy Watson received a bachelor's degree in biology from Augustana College, Rock Island, IL. She then attended St. Louis University where she earned her Master's of Medical Sciences degree in 2004. She worked in the surgery department at Medical Associates of Clinton, IA. She joined Soderstrom Skin Institute in 2009 and sees patients in our Davenport and Clinton offices. She and her husband reside in Bettendorf, IA with their daughter.

Stephanie Ellis moved to Peoria from Mt. Zion, IL in 2010. She received her bachelor's degree in biology from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL where she was a member of Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, SIUE Biology Society and the Pre-Med Association. Stephanie then attended Midwestern University in Downer's Grove, IL where completed her physician assistant degree. Stephanie sees patients in our Illinois offices. She lives in Peoria with her husband and son.

Heather Gates grew up in Washington, IL and is a 2008 graduate of Bradley University in Peoria, IL with a bachelor's degree in health science. While at Bradley she was on the Dean's list, the National Panhellenic Council Director of Correspondence, and a member of the Chi Omega National Fraternity Executive Board and the Rho Lambda National Leadership Organization. Heather completed the physician assistant program at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL where she was SIU Physician Assistant Organization president. Previously, she worked as a rehabilitation aide at Methodist Hospital in Peoria. Heather sees patients in our Clinton and Davenport, IA offices. She lives in Davenport with her husband.
